This past weekend the Basketball team traveled down to Rhode Island to play in the annual Hoop Mountain Prep Classic. BA would face off against South Kent in their first game. Although the Wolverines played well and never gave up, they did not get the outcome they were looking for, ending with a 72-67 loss. Zach Lydon (Elizaville, NY) had a great game for the Wolverines with 19 points and 15 rebounds, with Gavin McTavish (Mt. Airy, MD) also finishing strongly at 18 points.
The Wolverines looked to bounce back on Sunday when they faced Cushing Academy. Although the Wolverines came out slow to start the game, they never quit. BA would tie the game up at 73-73 with 5 seconds left. Isaiah Thomas (Bedford, NS) played tough defenses on Cushing’s guard and challenged the shot, but it was just note enough for Cushing’s final 22 foot shot that beat the horn. Rayon Miller (Brampton, ON) would have a solid game with 18 points and Joel Berroa (Lowell, MA) with 17 points. The team has a busy upcoming week, with three games at home before they head home for winter break: Tuesday vs. Notre Dame Prep at 6 P.M., Friday vs. New Hampton School at 6 P.M., and Saturday vs. St. Thomas More School at 2 P.M.x

BA vs. Navy Prep
On Friday, the Basketball team traveled down to Rhode Island
to face Navy Prep. The team came out flat and found themselves down at halftime
17 points. During the second half, the team picked up the intensity and fought
back, hitting a bunch of big shots and playing together. Unfortunately, BA
could not sneak away with the win ultimately, losing 75-82. BA plays Lee
Academy at home Wednesday night at 6 P.M.

BA vs. SMCC
This past Wednesday, the basketball
team opened up their season down in Portland, ME against Southern Maine
Community College. The Wolverines came out the first ten minutes not ready to
match the energy of SMCC, which caused BA to turnover the ball and fall behind
very quickly. The second half was the complete opposite, as BA climbed back in
the game and took care of the ball. Rayon Miller (Brampton, ON) had a great
first game as he led the team in scoring with 15 points and 6 assists. Gavin
McTavish (Mt. Airy, MD) also had a solid hard game with 14 points and 10
rebounds. Even though the Wolverines battled back in the second half, it was
not enough to overcome SMCC with a final score of 79-74. BA looks to rebound this
week as they have their first game at home this week against Central Maine
Community College.
